چکیده

Background: Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS) is a failure of autoregulation after revascularization procedure. It has rarely been reported in patients with no pre-existing cerebral hypoperfusion. Case Report: We present rare case patient who underwent stent graft implantation to treat postirradiated carotid blowout syndrome. The developed hypertension, focal neurological deficit, and seizures the procedure; neuroimages revealed ipsilateral edema, swelling, increased perfusion. CHS was diagnosed based on clinical radiological findings. recovered gradually receiving supportive care. Conclusion: Owing risk CHS, monitoring for perfusion prevention hypertension suggested undergo placement

Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome occurring three weeks after carotid endarterectomy.

Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome is a recognized complication of carotid endarterectomy. Various studies have documented an incidence of 0.3 to 1.2%. It occurs in the setting of sudden reperfusion of a chronically hypoperfused hemisphere. We present here a case of a 48-year-old lady who developed cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome three weeks after undergoing a carotid endarterectomy for high-gra...

Cerebral Hyperperfusion Syndrome After Angioplasty

Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome (CHS) was first described by Sundt et al. (1981) as a clinical syndrome following carotid endarterectomy (CEA) characterized by headache, neurological deficit, and epileptic seizures that is not caused by cerebral ischemia. This chapter deals with this uncommon but not exceptional complication of endovascular treatment of the arteries that supply the brain. We u...

Commentary Cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome following carotid endarterectomy

Extracranial internal carotid artery stenosis accounts for 15–20% of ischaemic strokes and carotid endarterectomy (CEA) is the most frequently performed surgical intervention in stroke prevention. The risk of stroke and death associated with the operation has been estimated at about 5.6% (95%CI 4.4–6.9). Neurological complications following CEA are usually ischaemic in nature, due to embolizati...

Intracranial hemorrhage and cerebral hyperperfusion syndrome after extracranial carotid artery angioplasty and stent placement.

Morrish et al (1) incorrectly state there has been no report to date in the literature regarding the incidence of postprocedural intracerebral hemorrhage after extracranial carotid artery angioplasty and stent placement. Authors working at the University of California, San Francisco, were the first to publish a series report examining the incidence of intracranial hemorrhage and cerebral hyperp...
